The Orangery

Our enchanting Orangery, bathed in natural light with stunning views across the estate, offers a sophisticated setting for gatherings of up to 35 guests standing. French doors open onto the patio overlooking rolling Essex countryside – ideal for summer evening celebrations where guests can drift outside to enjoy the alfresco ambience and watch the sun set over the hills. The Orangery works beautifully as a reception space, an intimate performance space for live music, or a tranquil retreat alongside your main celebration.

The Marquee

For larger celebrations of up to 200 people, our beautiful, heated marquee with draped ceilings adorned with twinkling lights and chandeliers provides a spacious celebration space for your event. In the summer months, the sides can be rolled up to reveal stunning views of the moat and gardens. Featuring a fully stocked, licensed bar, comfortable seating area and dance floor, our marquee offers everything you need. This elegant space adapts to your vision, whether you're hosting a grand party, corporate event, or multi-generational celebration.

The Grounds

Our grounds offer the perfect setting for outdoor events during the warmer months. Whether it’s a garden party to celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary, a children’s party, or a festival, we can bring your vision to life. For the ultimate private celebration, you can hire Downham Hall in its entirety, which will include our five luxury boutique en-suite bedrooms, ensuring exclusive use for you and your guests.

Gather for a delicious breakfast the following morning overlooking countryside views. It’s a lovely way to end the celebrations before heading home.
