Treat yourself to lunch at our North Wing restaurant, nestled in our historic Georgian manor house between Billericay and Wickford, with sweeping views across the Essex countryside – a world away from the everyday.

Whether you’re catching up with friends, entertaining colleagues, or simply giving yourself a midweek moment to look forward to, lunch at North Wing is a genuinely special experience. Arrive early to wander the grounds or follow one of the nearby walks, or settle in on the terrace on a warm summer’s day and take in the views. Little ones are welcome to enjoy our children’s play area, nestled at the bottom of our grounds.

Our kitchen uses fresh, locally sourced seasonal ingredients from Essex producers to create perfectly balanced dishes, from beautiful salads and tender roasted meats to fresh fish and vegetarian options. The menu changes with the seasons, so there’s always something new to discover.

Family-Friendly Dining

We welcome guests of all ages to enjoy lunch at Downham Hall. A dedicated children’s lunch menu is available for younger diners, and our team is happy to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies—simply let us know when booking. Our grounds are a wonderful place for children to explore, from spotting cows in the neighbouring field and watching ducks on the moat, to enjoying our giant garden games and children’s play area nestled at the bottom of our grounds.

Lunch is served in both our elegant De Beauvoir Suite and the light-filled Orangery, where views across the grounds and rolling hills provide a peaceful backdrop to your meal. In the summer months, meals are also served on our sunny terrace where you can soak up the views. It’s the kind of place where you can fully relax, away from the everyday. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you, making North Wing the perfect destination after a countryside walk.
